We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Local Area Coordinator to join our team! About the Role: As a Local Area Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in empowering individuals and their whanau to take charge of their own lives. Your mission will be to foster confidence and competence, helping them access resources, create sustainable community connections, and establish natural supports. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with disabled individuals and their families, guiding them to harness their strengths and navigate available resources. Connect people with vital information, services, and community opportunities to enhance their quality of life. Collaborate with local groups, organisations, and individuals to ensure coordinated, effective support tailored to each person's unique needs. Facilitate the development of meaningful relationships within the community to promote inclusivity and support networks. What We're Looking For: A genuine commitment to supporting disabled individuals and tangata whaikaha Maori. Knowledge of te reo and tikanga Maori. Credibility and good reputation with local Maori organisations, hapu and iwi. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to finding solutions. Experience in community engagement or social services is a plus, but a passion for empowering others is essential!
