Are you ready to spend your summer making a difference and having fun in the sun? Become a lifeguard at Auckland Council's Pool and Leisure Centres.
As a seasonal lifeguard, you will ensure the safety and enjoyment of pool users by providing quality supervision and upholding health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:Providing a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers.Educating and enforcing pool rules.Responding to any First Aid emergencies.Ensuring our pool and the surrounding areas are always clean.As our centre operates from 5:30am to 7:45pm Monday to Friday, 7 days a week, the ability to work early morning, late night, and weekends is vital. The ideal candidate would have flexibility to work across a variety of shifts Monday – Sunday.
We are looking for strong swimmers who are dedicated to helping others.
The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is to be able to pass this swim test. Please only apply for this position if you feel you can:
Swim 50m breaststroke.Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool.Tread water for 5 minutes.Flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to working early, late, and weekend shifts are essential.
To work as a pool lifeguard in New Zealand, you will need to hold a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC). We will provide ALL training for you free of charge and will pay for you to attend the training to enable you to get your Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC). You will be required to attend the following training dates at our West Wave location Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm:

You can find the position description here Pay rate: $27.80 /hr Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. As such, applicants will be required to undergo police vetting prior to commencing employment. This position is also deemed a safety-sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug testing. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory police check.
