We invite applications for a continuing position of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer to join our dynamic and evolving School. You will contribute to the vibrancy of the School's research culture and teach into our mathematics courses. You will be required to undertake research and a range of teaching responsibilities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as supervising research (postgraduate) students. You will be expected to work collaboratively with members of the school and others across the university in various administrative tasks related to teaching and research. You will have an active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga, and kawa of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngai Tuahuriri.
Mou | Who You Are
You hold a PhD Degree in Mathematics or a relevant discipline (or NZQA Level 10 equivalent qualification). You will have at least five years of research experience (inclusive of doctoral research) and an internationally recognised research record that is demonstrated by recent, relevant, high quality publications.
You will have interests and proven research record in one or more areas of Pure Mathematics including Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Cryptography, Geometry, Number Theory or Topology. Alignment of your research interests with those of members of the school may be viewed favourably, but is not required. You will bring a creative and curious attitude to your teaching and research, and have an open-minded viewpoint that respects diversity of thought.
You will have an ability and willingness to deliver high quality teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will have experience delivering teaching that enables effective learning for a wide range of learners. You will be comfortable in working situations that require adaptability as we transform our teaching via judicious use of digital technology.
If applying for senior lecturer, you will have more extensive experience in both research and teaching including a demonstrated background in supervising final year undergraduate projects, Masters and PhD students, as well as a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others in support of Departmental, Faculty, and University activities.

All academic staff are given the opportunity to be considered for promotion on an annual basis through the grades of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Senior Lecturer Above the Bar, Associate Professor, Professor, Distinguished Professor.
