K1 (0.5) Teacher – Hikurangi KindergartenHikurangi Kindergarten operates as an All-Year Model. Teaching staff benefit from 30 days Annual Leave and 15 Professional Time days per year along with 4 non-contact hours per week in this part-time position. NKA offers excellent professional development budgets and staff have the opportunity to apply for annual scholarships and wellness initiatives. NKA welcomes third-year students and runs an excellent mentoring programme for PCTs.
Hikurangi Kindergarten is situated in the settlement of Hikurangi about a ten-minute drive north of Whangarei. Tamariki attend from both the local community and surrounding rural and coastal areas. The kindergarten operates five 6-hour sessions Monday to Friday catering for 30 children between two and six years of age.
The environment of Hikurangi offers a natural, uncluttered, well-resourced space. Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga values are a strong focus at this kindergarten, and teachers welcome and encourage tamariki and whanau to be involved in their programme.

Hikurangi Kindergarten is part of a network of 25 kindergartens within the NKA. The kindergarten is supported by a professional practice and management team. NKA adheres to the employment conditions as offered in the Kindergarten Teacher, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers Collective Agreement 2023-2026.
