Auckland Airport (AKL) is nationally significant infrastructure with more than 800 businesses operating from the 1,500-hectare Precinct. This presents a unique and exciting challenge.The role of the Infrastructure Programme Cost Manager is key to the success of our programme. The role will ensure that cost and change across all aspects of our programme are rigorously managed, and that timely, accurate and effectively communicated cost information is provided to the airport business.Your key responsibilities in this role are:Cost and EstimatingEnsuring that project budgets are accurately estimated and that stakeholders are able to understand and trade off where their money best delivers value;Ensuring that project costs are properly captured, categorized and forecast;Ensuring that project and programme cost performance is regularly reviewed and is supported by variance and trend analysis;Ensuring that current project and programme cost data is visible to the business;Ensuring the timely transition of cost data between suppliers and Auckland Airport business systems;Together with Programme Schedule Manager, establishing and implementing an Earned value (EV) management system which provides an appropriate level of visibility and control to project performance.ChangeEnsuring that project change is accurately estimated and that this supports negotiation;Ensuring that project change is actively captured, categorized, tracked and incorporated into project forecasts.Risk and OpportunityMaintaining a holistic understanding of business, scope, schedule and cost objectives and using this to actively participate in risk and opportunity forums which leverage opportunities for cost reduction;Ensuring that project risks and opportunities are accurately estimated and reflected in Quantified Risk Assessments (QRAs) and other management tools.What you'll bring to the roleTertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Finance or Engineering;15 years' experience in project controls disciplines with a specific focus on cost, estimating and risk within large and complex capital development programmes;Proven ability to support and influence project personnel in the application of fit for purpose project controls processes and methods;It will be an advantage to have:Experience working inside large asset developer/owner/operator organisations, and a sound understanding of the diverse factors that make these businesses successful;Proven experience in the successful delivery of airport or other large, complex public infrastructure projects.About usFrom the arrival of the Tainui Waka into the Manukau Harbour, Auckland Airport has always been a place of journeys.
