This is an exciting time for us as we look to implement and embed our "Resilience and Assurance" operating and service delivery model. This model intends to drive greater consistency, quality, and accountability for the services we deliver by putting more emphasis on "the way we deliver services", and on lifting broader capability.
The Information Security Consultant is responsible for conducting security assurance activities for the Ministry. They contribute in a range of areas including conducting security risk assessments, audits, technical validation, and conducting certification activities. They also provide security expertise and assist in security awareness campaigns while being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in information security. The role is expected to provide these services in line with Ministry and government information security and risk management policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Assurance is the focus of the role, and the Information Security Consultant will conduct the following:

Write security risk assessments
Review reports from third parties
Assist and run risk workshops
Conduct regular security assurance activities including tasks such as access reviews and configuration reviews
Audit the implementation of solutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively communicate with stakeholders throughout the Ministry. The Information Security Consultant is expected to communicate findings and risk positions to a range of staff including project teams and management.
The Information Security Consultant will have core knowledge in information security and be willing to work on expanding this. They will participate in training to upskill and regular knowledge sharing within the team. O pukenga/Skills and Experience
To be successful in the role you will have:

Experience in cyber security consultancy, risk and assurance, and information security management
Good understanding of the information and technical security issues faced by large enterprise organizations and the security industry
Strong team player with a demonstrable track record in performing risk and assurance projects such as Certification and Accreditation (C&A) of systems and services
Fantastic attention to detail, time management, stakeholder management, and multi-tasking capabilities
Proactive customer and business-focused approach
Understanding of Te Ao Maori, Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga

At Te Tahu o te Ture – the Ministry of Justice, we are committed to working together for a fair and safe Aotearoa. The Security Assurance team is accountable for the Ministry's ICT and information security risk and assurance. We are part of the greater Resilience and Assurance Services (RAS) team. RAS maintains and assures protective security and privacy strategy, policy, guidelines, and processes to ensure that protective security (including cyber security, physical security, and personnel security) and privacy risk across Te Tahu o te Ture is understood and managed appropriately.
We facilitate the security assurance processes to ensure that information security risks are identified and mitigated appropriately throughout the project lifecycle and operational processes. We also assist in maintaining security policies and processes and provide user awareness training on day-to-day activities to ensure everyone at the Ministry has access to information that allows them to perform their jobs safely.

The appointing salary for this role will be $103,226 – $144,034 based on skills and experience.
