The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners Board Appointments (CEO & General Management) The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (the College) is the professional body and postgraduate educational provider for vocationally qualified specialist General Practitioners (GPs) and Rural Hospital Medicine Practitioners. Our key aim is to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities for all people in Aotearoa New Zealand. We do this by setting and maintaining education and quality standards, and supporting our members to provide competent, equitable care to their patients. Our 80+ operational staff support approximately 6,000 specialist GPs working in 1,000 general practices around the country. We aim to achieve a reasonable representation of core experiences across the Board and currently have education, health, governance, finance, commercial acumen covered with directors principally from a background of medical professionals. We are now looking for a candidate with skills and experience including: Prior experience as an independent director and Audit and Risk Committee Chair Strong track record in financial and risk management Demonstrated experience in data and technology is desirable We are leveraging our sponsorship model to achieve material improvement in educational outcomes for General Practitioners and your unique combination of experience in business would be invaluable in helping us grow even further. Appointment term – the initial term is three years, with the possibility of reappointment – subject to effective contribution - up to a maximum of one additional term. Location - the RNZCGP office is in Wellington and meetings are usually held there or virtually. Some travel will be required. Fee - the honorarium is $35,000 per annum which is reviewed annually. Travel and other board-related expenses are arranged by the office. Time commitment - Includes 8 full day Board meetings a year plus 4 two-three hour Audit and Risk Committee meetings.
