Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are looking for a full-time HR Manager / Poutaki Pumanawa Tangata to join our supportive and respected HR Advisory team. You will work with a connected and large Human Resources team who provide a professional partnership with academic faculties and service divisions to enable the University to deliver on its people and culture priorities.
In this newly created role you will take a lead on key University projects, bringing your experience of change and transformation. You will also partner with the Strategic Engagement Portfolio, driving our HR strategies through Employment Relations, Business Partnering, Change Management, and Senior Advisory support.
Here is a snapshot of some of your diverse responsibilities:

Play a key role in strategic change and optimisation projects
Lead and support organisational change initiatives, driving the implementation of effective change management strategies and minimising disruptions
Oversee Employment Relations activities, providing guidance and expertise in handling complex employee issues.
Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, serving as a trusted Business Partner and aligning HR strategies with our overall business objectives.
Provide senior advisory support for HR processes and best practices, ensuring compliance and optimising our HR frameworks.
Develop and implement talent and succession planning strategies.
Provide guidance on remuneration strategies and work with our remuneration team to help with benchmarking and parity checks.

Qualifications

You will have experience working within strategic projects, including experience working in large and complex transformational pieces of work. You will also have proven experience as an HR Generalist, partnering with business units to provide strategic HR support aligned with organisational goals, and you will be comfortable handling employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance.
The key to your success will be your project and transformation expertise, coupled with outstanding stakeholder management capability, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and your ability to thrive in a busy and dynamic environment.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Relevant HR or legal qualifications and compliance expertise
Experience in transformational projects and stakeholder management
Ability to partner with multiple business units for strategic HR support
Strong employee relations skills, including investigations and performance management
Coaching experience and familiarity with matrixed organizations
Cultural competency in Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori is valued, and we welcome diverse backgrounds and experiences to contribute to our inclusive community aligned with our strategic vision.
