Current Vacancies Southern Institute of Technology Invercargill Permanent Full-time Role Overview: As an HR Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive HR support to our organisation.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be responsible for implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to both employees and management, offering guidance on a wide range of HR-related matters.
Key Responsibilities: Delivering core HR functions, including employment relations, remuneration, staff experience (recruitment, onboarding, retention, and farewell), performance management, talent management, succession planning, engagement, HRIS support, reporting, administration, and capability development.
Manage employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
Administer HR-related documentation and maintain accurate employee records.
Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Manage the HRIS and prepare routine and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making.
Develop strong relationships with SIT leaders, managers, and staff, delivering a quality, customer-centric approach.
Qualifications and Experience: A degree in human resources management or a related field is preferred.
Approximately 5 years of experience in HR, preferably at a generalist advisory level.
Experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
A strong understanding of New Zealand employment legislation.
Experience supporting the inclusion of Te Tiriti o Waitangi practices and advocating the use of te reo, tikanga, and matauranga Maori in the workplace.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in relationship building, influencing, coaching, and negotiation.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate HR complexities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity and prioritizing the needs of priority groups.

High level of professionalism and integrity.
Flexible, adaptable, and enjoys challenges and change.
Strong customer focus, including the ability to develop cost-effective solutions.
Ability to work in a complex environment and deal with ambiguity across functions.
