The Food and Fibre CoVE is an initiative of the Food and Fibre Centre of Vocational Excellence Society Incorporated, whose members include representatives of industry peak bodies, employers, and training providers from the food and fibre sector. Our aim is to revolutionise vocational education and training through novel research and innovation projects, enabling New Zealand's food and fibre sector to flourish by nurturing an exceptional talent pool.
About the Role
We are introducing an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in the food and fibre sector. The Head of Strategic Engagement is a newly created position to drive greater uptake and implementation of our innovative research projects at Food and Fibre Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE).
As our strategic engagement lead, reporting directly to the General Manager, you will bring your expertise in building key relationships to foster strategic partnerships with stakeholders across Government agencies, education providers, and industries that operate in the food and fibre sector, ensuring broader understanding of our research projects.
Collaborating closely with our portfolio management team and third parties, you will facilitate and enable completed research projects to be adopted by employers and embedded within the education system.
Working with the General Manager, you will also be responsible for developing a strategy to extend our future beyond 2025, helping to shape the future trajectory of our institution's research and development function, ensuring that our strong reputation, built since our 2021 inception, continues to soar.

In your role, you will have the backing of our Senior Communications Advisor, responsible for crafting communications and marketing materials to support your stakeholder engagement strategy.
Experience and Skills
• More than 5 years' experience in a senior management role
• Confident networking and interpersonal skills to enhance partnerships and relationships
• Strong track record writing and delivering strategic plans
• Formidable oral and written communication skills
• Experience working in or closely with the food and fibre sector is essential
• Desired experience working within the education system, an industry training organisation, or a relevant Government department at a senior level
• Superb time management and presentation skills; multitasker extraordinaire.
Role Details
This is a Fixed Term role until 31 Dec 2025, 40 hours per week (negotiable). While the office is based in Napier, remote working opportunities would be considered for Wellington or Lower North Island applicants.
