The opportunity
As the Head of RMA and Environment, you will lead the overarching consenting strategy for Wellington Water and partner with our capital programme leads and network management group to maintain oversight of all RMA-related consent and environmental activities.
With strong leadership, technical, and relationship management skills, you will:
Work closely with our client councils to influence district plans and policies to ensure alignment with the region's Three Waters Strategy and ambitions towards achieving te mana o te wai.
Build best practice frameworks relating to WWL consenting processes and activities that meet governance and legislative needs.
Partner with mana whenua to incorporate a collective approach to three water strategies relating to environmental sustainability and compliance measures.
Support policy and framework development and amendments to ensure they are consistent and in line with current legislation and organisational goals.
Work closely with regulators, client councils, and Iwi partners to ensure planned activities relating to RMA and Environment activities are well managed and work is not impeded.
Provide people leadership to the RMA Consents and Environmental team.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring the following:
Excellent planning and analysis to identify and support future programmes of work and their individual needs.
Excellent written communication skills to assist with the creation of organisational policy and frameworks.
A good understanding of te mana o te wai and the ability to effectively partner with mana whenua for holistic and te ao Maori approaches to work within the environment.
A strong understanding of environmental protection and environmental planning for three waters or other similar infrastructure.
Great relationship skills with the ability to partner effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
An intimate understanding of resource management legislation and practices carried out locally, regionally, and nationally.
Leadership experience, with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop a high-performance team of technical experts.
