What does a day in this job look like?
Leading the resource recovery unit, you will set the strategic future direction of resource recovery and sustainability for Kirikiriroa/Hamilton. This includes meeting legislative and national standards delivering on Hamilton City Council Waste Management and Minimisation Plan, vision, and goals.
Through continual improvement, and with a strong future focus, you will ensure that systems and processes deliver excellence and optimise the city's resource recovery and sustainability, rubbish and recycling programme, compliance including enforcement and solid waste assets performance. Improving year on year, you will lead a team to deliver significant waste reduction across the city with innovative solutions that have a significant positive impact on climate change outcomes.
For this role we are seeking:
A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, science or management.
Minimum of 15 years' technical experience working in environmental, commercial, industrial, or other closely allied field of work.
Minimum of 10 years' management experience in a leadership position in a relevant industry with experience in people leadership across multiple levels, sites and activities.
Evidence of leading a high-performing team, development of people, and driving an engaged culture.
Experience and expertise in the delivery of operational excellence, continuous improvement and reporting in health safety and wellbeing, financial management, service delivery, risk, quality, contract, and project management.

Circa $165K per annum dependent on skills and experience.
