Baltic Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Shift Leader for a client located in West Auckland.
This is a hands-on role in a physically demanding environment.
Candidates must be physically fit and open-minded individuals who have excellent problem-solving skills.
Batch processing environment experience will be beneficial, and minor leadership experience would be advantageous.
Shift Leader Main Duties & Responsibilities: Report to Plant Supervisor.
Responsible for operating the glass grinding and furnace plant.
Responsible for grains and furnace quality.
Carrying out pre-use checks on equipment and machinery.
Maintaining good housekeeping on site.
Problem solving and dealing with issues on a day-to-day basis.
Will have full control of the site during out of office hours.
Ensuring the plant is operated in line with safety, environmental and quality organisational and site-specific rules and procedures.
Hands-on running of our furnace plant, ensuring all Quality and Safety procedures are adhered to.
Organising team members as per the needs of the plant.
Completing Furnace reports on a daily basis.
Correcting material recipes during out of hours.
Continuous focus on furnace efficiency and quality.
Completing Glass gradation checks and interpreting information.
Carrying out rotex maintenance.
Prepare and complete regular handovers with other Shift Leaders.
Scheduling and assisting in routine downtime tasks.
Providing practical training to your team.
Involvement with interview and candidate selection.
Responsible for safe opening and closing of site for weekend and shutdowns.
To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications: NVQ level 3 shift leader / team leader qualification or equivalent, preferred but not essential.
Counterbalance forklift licence.
Experience of operating a front-loading shovel preferred but not essential.
Basic Health & Safety qualification/training preferred but not essential.
3 years' experience in a leadership role within a similar environment preferred but not essential.
Good organisation skills and attention to detail.
Basic computing skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office e.g.
Outlook, Excel etc.
Hold a clean, valid driving licence (Car).
Good problem-solving skills.
Strong leader.
Proactive and ability to work independently.
Hardworking and driven with a focus on continual improvement.
Ability to cope effectively under pressure.
Good sickness, timekeeping and disciplinary record.
Healthy and physically fit.
Must be able to deal with pressure and demands of the role.
Salary: £34,444 (£16.55 P/H).
Recruitment will follow the path of: 16 weeks via agency, then a 9-month fixed term contract directly with the employer, and finally offered a full-time contract.
Working Hours: 40-hour week on a 3-shift pattern: 7am-3pm Days, 3pm-11pm Afternoons, 11pm-7am Nights.
Monday to Friday; however, this may vary.
