Every day, we work tirelessly to create stories that inspire and enlighten, so that our mokopuna and future generations can thrive and succeed in Aotearoa.Job DescriptionTe aheinga | The opportunityA unique opportunity to join a kaupapa Maori organisation where you can apply your exceptional legal skills along with your deep understanding of te ao Maori to ensure we uphold our editorial standards and comply with legal obligations.As the Head of Legal, Editorial Standards and Contract Services you will play a crucial role in upholding the principles of Maori values, tikanga, and editorial standards, ensuring their equal significance alongside legal requirements in all aspects of our work.This role is part of a collaborative leadership team at Whakaata Maori and will report to the Director of Finance. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advisory services to safeguard the mana and reputation of Whakaata Maori and for leading our contract and legal function at Whakaata Maori.Bachelor of Laws with current practicing certificateA minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar roleThorough knowledge of Media LawWorking understanding of the Broadcasting Complaints process, the Privacy Act, the Official Information Act and other relevant legislationA strong understanding of te ao Maori, including tikanga Maori, te reo Maori, and Maori cultural practices, and exhibit comfort and competency in working within cross-cultural contexts.Fluency in te reo Maori (written and verbal) or a commitment to developing proficiency in the languageOur kaihoe consistently tell us they work here because they believe in our kaupapa, come join our team.
