What You Will Do As the Hardware Solutions Team Manager & Technical Lead in CTCT, you will be responsible for growing and developing a Hardware Solutions engineering team with ownership of specific CTCT hardware products.
You will manage and supervise a team of hardware engineers, providing electrical and mechanical engineering capabilities for CTCT products.
You will direct the work of the hardware solutions engineering team in alignment with, and deliver to, CTCT's priorities, and do the same for supplier development of components as required.
You will utilise your detailed knowledge of practical applications of electrical and mechanical engineering skills to select technical solutions, innovate, and provide direction through to project execution.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills to work within ambiguous situations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to define and develop products.
In this role, you will do the following : Direct supervision of a staff of up to 4 engineers, including goal setting, performance management, and career planning End-to-end technical leader for CTCT hardware products including Compute, User Interface, GNSS, and Radio devices Responsible for the selection of technical solutions, innovation, and providing direction on technical aspects of project execution Technical accountability for the design, delivery, and maintenance of our products Accountable for product architecture - HW, FW, Mounting, Connectivity Accountable to convert product objectives (from Product Lead) into technical solutions and requirements Lead multi-discipline teams for defining product requirements and acceptance of requirements by the HWS product team Manages technical product risk and is accountable for risk mitigation, including design best practices and risk management Guide the product team to generate and maintain technical design documentation including but not limited to PRD, DFMEA, Test reports, DVP&R, regulatory compliance, etc Provide technical input to the team on component validation testing Be the key technical contact for the product. You will manage communication and collaboration with technical leads in HWS supplier / customer product teams. What you'll bring? Along with having excellent written and verbal communication skills, and being able to lead effectively, take ownership, and drive projects to completion, you will be a natural team player, with strong work prioritisation skills and a collaborative working style.
You will also need to have the following : BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related engineering discipline or equivalent experience 5+ years of multi-discipline experience or knowledge in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, firmware, machine applications Ability to turn market requirements into engineering specifications and other product development documentation Understanding of product lifecycle management Ability to work across functional areas to gather input and make appropriate trade-off decisions Experience with LEAN Six Sigma practices Off-highway or Automotive component hardware experience preferred. About Our CTCT Division The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics.
The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
