Ko waikoe | About You Our Clinical Haematology service comprises several sub-specialities, including a Clinical Trials Unit, with particular interest in areas of blood cancers, haemostasis, and supportive care. The unit has an excellent reputation which continues to grow, with an opportunity to be involved in the South Island's first CAR-T clinical trial. The service is seeking a Senior Registrar to join the research team for a period of 12 months. The successful applicant will work closely with our Clinical Trials team in performing Sponsor and Investigator-initiated research and conducting clinical consultations. Currently, we have over 12 active clinical trials.

There is also an opportunity to work in support of the other Registrars in support of the wider Haematology service.

This is a fixed-term position from the 27th January 2025 - 25th January 2026 You will have experience in a number of hospital departments including Haematology. An understanding and interest in clinical trials/research in order to act as a sub-investigator and/or Principal Investigator covering: Medical supervision and management of patients with malignant blood disorders on clinical trials, in consultation with the treating consultant. Ensure that clinical trials are conducted according to International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) regulatory authorities' requirements, and any other local policy requirements. Perform patient-required protocol visits, including clinical assessments and results interpretation. Implement clinical trial protocols and liaise with key study and medical personnel and sponsors. Extensive interaction with the other members of the Clinical Trials Unit. Attendance at outpatient clinics, haematology research, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Keep accurate records and maintain them for as long as the protocol dictates. Ensure serious adverse events are reported immediately. Educate and inform patients and their support-persons of clinical trials and the experimental nature of the drug products. Knowledge and commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the principles can be applied to health. A willingness to grow and further develop an equity lens and skillset, both to assist Maori and minority groups. You must be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
