Cardiothoracic Clinical Nurse Specialist Experienced Cardiothoracic Operating Theatre nurses only Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC. Currently hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification in nursing. Mo te tunga | About the role Our Operating Theatre Suite at Christchurch Hospital consists of 28 theatres which provide acute and elective operating from all surgical specialties on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Cardiothoracic Clinical Nurse Specialist who will enjoy leading our large team of health professionals in this fast paced and challenging environment.
Ko wai koe | About You This role will keep Registered Nurses and Operating Theatre Assistants up to date with the skills required to work in our operating theatres. You will spend time on the floor leading care and identifying areas for improvement.
The CNS will be working alongside members of our senior nursing team to provide a consistent approach to care delivery across the service. You will be expected to participate in quality projects and in the development of clinical pathways with the Cardiothoracic specialty. You will also be responsible for equipment, consumables and preference books alongside being the key link to the surgeons related to this specialty.
You will be an experienced practitioner with expert knowledge and skills in Cardiothoracic Operating Theatre nursing. You will be required to organise and partake in a call roster. Extensive surgical experience in several settings would be advantageous. You should have proven leadership ability and be able to demonstrate that you are adaptable and flexible to achieve solution-focused outcomes. Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously. You will act as a specialist resource for other nurses, medical practitioners and patients. Have quality improvement/change management knowledge or experience. We are looking for someone who is committed and passionate to succeed in this role and who as a positive role model will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of care and improved patient outcomes are attained.
