Financial Controller - Wellington Rugby & Hurricanes About the Role:
Wellington Rugby and The Hurricanes are seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance unit across both organisations, ensuring financial sustainability and strategic growth. This unique role is critical in shaping the financial direction and supporting the operational success of both the WRFU and The Hurricanes. As Financial Controller, you will be an integral member of the executive leadership team, guiding strategic financial planning and reporting while directly impacting the organisation's future.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with the CEOs, providing insights to enhance organisational performance, manage budgets, and guide long-term strategic planning.
Financial Management: Develop financial forecasts, manage capital budgets, and analyse performance to provide actionable recommendations.
Executive Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor on the executive team, playing a key role in strategic decision-making and operational execution.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Deliver timely and accurate financial planning reports, including profit & loss, cash flow, and balance sheets.
Cash Flow & Investment Oversight: Lead cash flow planning, asset management, and bank relationships to ensure financial health.
Compliance & Audit Management: Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and manage all external audit processes.
Team Leadership: Develop and manage finance staff, promoting a positive workplace culture and adherence to financial best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Tertiary qualification in finance or accounting, with a Chartered Accounting qualification preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a CFO or similar role, ideally within a comparable organisation.
Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative team approach.
Technical Expertise: Knowledge of accounting principles, fund/grant accounting, and financial compliance. Familiarity with finance and accounting software.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and organisational abilities, with a track record in strategic financial analysis.
