Executive Officer

Details of the offer

The AIANZ is the peak membership body that represents the interest of the commercial aviation industry in New Zealand. Founded in 1950, its overall goal is to support a safe, sustainable, and resilient sector in New Zealand. While safety is at the forefront of everything we do, we also enable our members and the wider aviation sector to grow and innovate. The membership of the organisation includes around 200 operators from small to large who operate aircraft in many sectors of the industry. These include flight and ground training, agriculture, scheduled and charter air transport services, freight, helicopter external loads, photography, search and rescue, surveillance, and tourism. Our membership also includes companies that service, maintain, design, or manufacture for these sectors. Our role is primarily a policy one that is supported by evidence-based advocacy and lobbying to Government and their agencies. We support members in regulatory matters, advancing professionalism in all safety matters while being recognised as the voice of the country's commercial aviation industry. The association itself is organised into six divisions that sit under the umbrella of AIANZ.We are seeking an Executive Officer to support our growing organisation. Based in the Wellington CBD, the role provides executive and policy support to the AIANZ with a particular focus on the New Zealand Helicopter Association (NZHA) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Industry Association of New Zealand (UAVNZ) divisions. The Executive Officer will work alongside the Chief Executive and Business Operations Lead in our Wellington office and collaborate closely with our Executive Officer based in the South Island. The AIANZ has undergone a reset, rebrand, and revitalisation in the past 12 months, and the successful candidate will be expected to work alongside a high-energy and dynamic team in Wellington. A background or knowledge of aviation and transport, and experience in the policy area, while not essential, would be helpful. Previous experience working in a membership organisation would also be beneficial. The successful candidate must be prepared to support other team members, as this is a small organisation. Communication and engagement with members is integral to the role. It requires a person who is willing to get on the phone, understand the issues of a member, and be able to act on them. While the job requires the successful candidate to work in the Wellington office, there is flexibility to work from home on an occasional basis. The AIANZ is a family-friendly organisation and understands the importance of these commitments and the need for a work-life balance. As with many industry bodies, we are a small organisation that often requires a hands-on approach to tasks and the enthusiasm to 'muck in' and help as needed. This is especially the case for our annual industry conference held in August or September each year.Applications close on Friday 15 November 2024 and should be sent to ******. You must include a covering letter outlining why you'd like the job and your CV with at least two references (applications without a cover letter will not be considered). We expect to shortlist candidates no later than mid-November, with the job commencing sometime in December or early January.Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident with full working rights in the country. Applicants who do not meet these criteria should not apply.
