Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is looking for a seasoned professional to join our team as the Engagement and Communications Lead for the Northland Corridor programme.Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive stakeholder mapping, engagement, and communication strategies.
Lead the development of Iwi and Hapu engagement and communication strategies.
Support land and consent acquisition for early contractor collaboration phases.
Oversee communication efforts for property acquisitions in various stages of the programme.
Collaborate with senior managers to ensure effective content is created for online and other communication channels.
Support agency leaders in being effective communicators, while managing and escalating issues as needed.
Provide strategic advice and direction across external partners and stakeholders, ensuring project engagement meets statutory requirements.
Manage professional services contractors and consultants as required.
Identify and proactively manage risks and issues, adapting to support different teams, as necessary.

Proven expertise in managing communications and engagement within large, complex civil engineering projects, preferably in a PPP environment.
Strong track record of operating in high-pressure, complex stakeholder environments.
Experience in the Northland stakeholder environment is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to navigate the intricacies of Iwi and Hapu expectations within a client-side team.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
High levels of integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
Strong analytical skills with experience in applying in-depth analysis to complex issues.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Communications or a related discipline is essential.
Business or other qualification preferred.
