We are seeking a talented Energy Engineer/Advisor who ideally has 2 - 5 years' experience to join our Invercargill team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of electrification and decarbonisation.Position OverviewThe Energy Engineer/Advisor will support our customers and PowerNet with decarbonisation and sustainability objectives. This role involves identifying and implementing solutions to reduce carbon emissions, electrification infrastructure costs, enhance efficiency, and integrate innovative technologies. You will work across PowerNet and closely with industrial and commercial customers and other stakeholders to drive electrification initiatives that achieve emission reduction goals.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify industrial and commercial customers that provide opportunity for significant decarbonisation including electrification of process and space heating and transport, distributed generation and energy efficiency. Leverage work done by PowerNet, EECA and other parties such as EECA's Regional Energy Transition (RETA) programme to help with site identification.Conduct energy assessments of identified sites and specify areas for decarbonisation.Perform economical, technical, and financial analysis and modelling to inform and support decarbonisation initiatives and decisions.Develop business cases and proposals for customers and PowerNet that support emission reduction initiatives.Support the development and delivery of strategies, objectives, policies, processes, and innovative solutions and services for decarbonisation and sustainability.Establish monitoring and reporting systems to track activities and performance of implemented solutions.Research and stay updated on relevant technologies and emission reduction initiatives, targets, policies and regulations.Investigate external funding opportunities and support customers and PowerNet with applications and engagements.Develop training programs and share knowledge to drive initiatives, participate in regional energy strategy and initiative development and delivery, foster partnerships and collaborate with peers and other electricity networks and organisations (e.g. EECA) to achieve emission reduction outcomes through electrification.Qualifications, Skills And ExperienceQualification with substantial focus on Energy Management, Energy Efficiency, and C02 Emissions Reduction. This could be through a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or Applied Sciences/Economics.Knowledge and experience in delivering energy assessment and management, technology integration, and energy efficiency projects and systems.Strong understanding of electrification technologies that enable decarbonisation.Proficiency in data analytics and modelling tools.Very strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.Excellent project management skills with experience working within cross-functional teams.Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.Experience collaborating with R&D institutions and understanding of emerging energy technologies is a plus.Why Join Us?At PowerNet, our people are our most valuable asset.
