Southern Institute of Technology, a business division of Te Pukenga, has an opportunity for an Electrician to join our friendly and supportive facilities team. In this role, you will assist with scheduling and managing planned and unplanned maintenance across the SIT's facilities.
This role will report to the Facilities Manager. The Electrician is also responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with SIT's staff, health and safety team, and external providers and contractors.
To perform in this role, you need to be a registered and qualified electrician with experience in the field working on simple and complex electrical systems and a valid driver's license.
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will possess the following:
Responsible for test and tagging
Installing and repairing electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems
Reading technical diagrams and schematic electrical drawings
Performing general electrical maintenance
Inspecting transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components
Troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate testing devices
Repairing and replacing equipment, electrical wiring, and fixtures
Following National Electrical Code state and local building regulations
Performing circuit breaker corrective maintenance
Maintaining good knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems as well as various testing equipment
Strong attention to detail
