You will be responsible for leading a talented and committed team of 38 staff including four team leaders, to offer significant physical and electronic collections, lifelong learning events and programs, access to evolving experiential technologies and opportunities to connect with, understand and contribute to your community.

The Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing Districts in New Zealand and the third largest, by population, in the South Island.
The community is fast changing and becoming increasingly diverse offering continual opportunities for space, team and service developments. A significant Library extension is planned for within the current LTP.
Your role will include : Leading a supportive and dedicated team of approximately 38 FTE including 4 Team Leaders Development and implementation of the Libraries Strategy and associated policies and guidelines Developing, managing and being accountable for the Libraries operational and capital budgets Maintaining and developing a culture of continuous improvement which puts the customer first. Ensuring that Waimakariri Libraries are accessible, relevant and respond to future trends. Demonstrating and promotion of Te Ao Maori values and principles Developing and strengthening relationships with elected members and the wider Council and community, promoting the value of Libraries in our communities. Ensuring external services are delivered to provide best value for our community and systems and assets are delivered and maintained that engender public trust and ensure the safety of staff and customers. This role will be primarily based at Rangiora Library with ample free car parking close by.
