It is the mandated iwi authority for Ngati Toa Rangatira, and the administrative body of iwi estates and assets.
Te Runanga o Toa Rangatira manages political and public interests on behalf of Ngati Toa Rangatira including Tiriti claims and settlements, commercial and customary fisheries, health services (including primary mental health and residential care services), social services, central and local government relationships, and resource and environmental management.
It is also responsible for commercial interests including property assets.
Te Runanga O Toa Rangatira Incorporated is a non-profit incorporated society with charitable status.
The rohe of Ngati Toa extends from the Whangaehu River south along the ranges to Turakirae.
It then crosses Raukawa Moana (Cook Strait) to Marlborough and Nelson.
This is encapsulated in the tribal pepeha: Mai i Miria te Kakara ki Whitireia, whakawhiti te moana Raukawa, ki Wairau, ki Whakatu.

Ko te tima | About the team Toa Developments Ltd. was formally set up in July 2023 as a small, highly skilled team charged with Development Managing te Runanga's $250m land and building portfolio.
We are looking to grow that team gradually was more of our feasibilities convert into live projects.
Our projects vary hugely from large-scale residential land subdivisions, to Residential and Commercial builds, Papakainga, Education and Health Facility design and builds.
The Development Manager will be responsible for progressing Toa Developments projects from inception through to completion, ensuring projects remain on budget, are delivered on time and to a high quality.
This will include ongoing engagement and oversight of our development project teams, engaging with key stakeholders, build partners and consultants.
The applicant should have a high degree of technical skills and understanding of land and development risk enabling them to work with project teams to identify site specific constraints and risks and determine strategies to mitigate these to successfully deliver both residential (horizontal infrastructure and vertical builds) plus commercial development projects.

Your high-level experience and professional expertise in DEVELOPMENT is a given, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngati Toa.
You will have most of the following: Experience of managing consultants, programmes and project budgets.
Experience/qualifications in property development, project management, engineering, architecture, project finance or other relevant discipline would be advantageous.
Basic understanding of valuations, debt-raising, and leases Proven ability to deliver projects as part of a team to time and budget Not afraid of getting your 'hands dirty' when required, but understanding when delegation is required Technically savvy – can adhere to and learn processes, experienced software user: MS 360, Project, etc.
TDL uses 'WRIKE' as its primary development management tool.
