A unique opportunity to contribute to the evolution of Corrections through building and enabling capacity for safe and resilient operations and continuous improvement.
The Department of Corrections - Ara Poutama Aotearoa is one of New Zealand's largest government departments, focused on the pursuit of oranga - the wellbeing of people.
The Organisational Resilience & Safety (OR&S) function exists to make the Department an increasingly safe, resilient, effective and efficient organisation, promoting continuous learning and simplifying systems to better enable our people. It anticipates, monitors, and responds to critical operational risks and learns from unexpected events.
You will lead a team of tier-three Directors across:
Business Partnering focused on health, safety and wellbeing, and continuity planning and disruption response with local teams,
Integrated Systems, enabling better work through simplified, effective and user-friendly policy and practice development,
Organisational Resilience, Learning and Assurance, providing insights about operational systems performance and continuous learning.
Complaints Resolution, ensuring stewardship of our complaints system and supporting effective responses to complaints.
The OR&S group is geographically diverse and works closely with our frontline personnel.
Ideal candidates will have experience in strategic leadership and driving performance outcomes in risk, organisational resilience, and/or health, safety and wellbeing leadership roles. You will be a member of an executive focused on team building principles, including Lencioni's five dysfunctions of team. A challenging, curious, and critical thinking mindset is encouraged.
The successful applicant will be a facilitator of change, able to lead and inspire people within a high-risk 24/7 environment, with knowledge of contemporary human-centred approaches to organisational resilience. This role can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, and will require frequent national travel.
