Join Our Team as a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Specialist We are excited to announce a newly created role focused on enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) within Mercury.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to take a strategic approach in leveling up our DEIB initiatives and fostering a sense of belonging across the business. You will collaborate with key internal stakeholders including our internal employee network groups, establish a dedicated committee to find things that will make a difference to Mercury and drive meaningful change.
With strong executive buy-in and genuine commitment to progress, you will identify impactful strategies that make a real difference. Your responsibilities will include setting measurable objectives, maintaining oversight of these goals over time, and engaging with our people and leaders across Mercury. This role offers the chance to lead transformative work and shape the roadmap for our DEIB efforts.
We are looking for someone who can take the lead in this space, working strategically with stakeholders at all levels, from the boardroom to the front lines. Your experience in DEIB at this level is essential, as is your ability to build collaborative relationships across organisations. Reporting to our General Manager - People Experience (PX), you will also work closely with the PX Development Manager and their team to design & implement initiatives. Mercury offers a flexible working environment, taking into consideration what is best for you, the team and Mercury. You will have the flexibility to work from home while also combining office days each week to come together to collaborate with your team and stakeholders. There is some travel required to key sites and other offices within the North Island. This role has the flexibility to be based in Auckland, Tauranga or Hamilton.
Key Responsibilities Include: Take ownership for the DEIB strategy across Mercury.Collaborate, design and deliver a range of strategic initiatives that improve diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging at Mercury.Lead the delivery of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy, delivering strategic initiatives that will make a measurable impact for our people and the attainment of our DEIB goals and aspirations.Engage with stakeholders both inside and outside of Mercury, including the sector-wide working group on DEIB.Support engagement and alignment with the DEIB strategy across the enterprise so that it is prioritised and delivers tangible outcomes.We are looking for: Strong experience leading or delivering DEIB outcomes.Experience in other relevant fields such as Human Resources (HR), Organisational Development (OD) or proven background in delivering people-focused strategies would be advantageous.Bachelor's degree in HR, Organisation Psychology, or other relevant field.Mercury offers (full benefits are listed on our Career Page): Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays).$400 one-off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office.A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged.Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave.The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers.Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world.Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance.Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check-ups and confidential assistance programme.Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet.At Mercury, we believe that having a team of individuals with different backgrounds, experience and capability working together makes us stronger and better as an organisation.
