About the role: The Data Insights Lead is a key player in transforming Lotto NZ's data into actionable insights for decision-making and operational planning.
The Data Insights Lead's expertise in data modelling, business intelligence, and dashboarding will be crucial in driving our self-service analytics ambitions.
This role will also lead a small team of data specialists, providing data analysis and insights to the business, and addressing challenges using machine learning, statistical, and algorithmic techniques.
Data Modelling & Business Intelligence: Design and build ad-hoc data models, integrate new data sources, and maintain a thorough understanding of our data ecosystem.
Analytics & Insights: Provide accurate and timely reporting, drive the uptake of self-service analytics, and develop actionable insights to support Lotto NZ's strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement: Present findings to senior management, develop close working relationships with key stakeholders, and disseminate relevant information throughout the organisation.
Leadership: Provide thought leadership, and drive innovation making a significant impact on our data strategy.
People Management: Lead a team of highly capable data specialists, set goals, and ensure a high-performing team.

A bit about you: Our ideal candidate will be passionate about transforming data into actionable insights.
They will also have:
Advanced database querying skills (SQL, Databricks preferred).
Proficiency in data visualization tools (PowerBI).
Strong ability to tell a story with, and present data, in narrative form.
Experience with predictive models (R or Python).
Strong communication and presentation skills.
5+ years of experience in a similar role.
Team leadership and stakeholder management experience.
Tertiary qualification in a numeric discipline (Statistics preferred).
