About the opportunity | Mo tenei turanga One of our industry's biggest challenges is making well-informed decisions quickly and efficiently which means we need to change the way we think about our data.
As a Data Engineer, with a focus on making better decisions faster, you will be asked to support & build data platforms that will help solve business problems across Global Markets and Innovation & Brand (I&B) business units. With the mindset of focusing on business problems first, you will then work the problems back into the data we have available to help create frameworks and solutions to move us forward.
Reporting into the Head of Analytics Engineering, you will design and build highly performant & scalable cloud-based data pipelines to enable streamlined advanced analytics that supports our Data & Analytics Strategy.
Other accountabilities will include:
Design, Develop & Implement cloud-based ETL/ELT solutionsBuild, Monitor & Maintain data ingestion pipelines, ensuring SQL/Python scripts/services are running smoothlyWorking closely with data and business owners to ensure current and future state requirements are well defined, mapped & clearly communicatedProvide technical guidance to the wider teams in order to help design data solutions, automating manual processes, troubleshooting & problem solvingHelp advocate for and implement best practices for our data handling and governance.You will have a strong knowledge of Data process Lifecycle, Data Engineering principles, and expertise in engineering and architecting data analytics solutions in SQL, MS Azure and/or AWS platforms.
You'll be experienced in delivering analytics projects with added business value. Familiar with working with complex data, you will have the skills to understand, extract and transform data, analyse it & provide valuable insights.
Communication is key in this role, as you'll be working closely with a wide variety of stakeholders and business units. You'll be reliable, approachable, and able to identify and provide solutions to the wider business to keep Fonterra moving forward. You'll be comfortable working in a small team remotely and in person.
Other key requirements include:
Recognised Tertiary Qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or StatisticsProven knowledge & experience in SQL with a desire & willingness to learn PythonExperience working in cloud-based Data Platforms (MS Azure or AWS)Working Knowledge of visualization tools such as Power BI or TableauExtensive reporting and analytical skillsAre you excited about this opportunity but may only meet some requirements?
