Location: 42 Don Street, InvercargillDepartment: Information Services (IT, IS, IM, GIS)Employment type: Permanent Full TimeAbout the role:We are seeking a talented data-focused IT professional to assist us with the designing, implementation, and management of our data and integration solutions.This role is core to our Council being able to obtain the information needed in a timely manner to make robust decisions, along with ensuring our systems have connections to the data needed to operate effectively and efficiently.To be successful in the role you will need:Previous experience in data engineering and data platform implementation (especially legacy migration/greenfield implementation)Experience with Microsoft Azure data servicesExperience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, and SSASStrong programming skills in Python, SQL, and C#/.NETExperience working with large-scale line of business enterprise systems and challenging business problemsDeep understanding of data modeling/visualization, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional modeling techniquesCertifications or experience such as Azure Data Engineer, AWS Data Analytics Specialty, or Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer and/or integration engines and tools would be a distinct advantage.About Council:With 11% of the total land area of New Zealand, including Fiordland National Park and Stewart Island Rakiura, Southland District Council has the largest land area to manage of any territorial authority.
