Data & Analytics Principal Consultant - Microsoft FabricPosition: Principal Consultant Data & Analytics - Microsoft FabricLocation: Datacom Auckland Preferred, Wellington Ok, or anywhere in the North Island if willing to travelAbout the Role: As a Principal Consultant, you will lead the technical delivery of large-scale data platform and BI solutions. You will design, implement, and own the delivery of robust Data Platform solutions and end-to-end components. This is a client-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills.What You'll Do:Work with clients to gather and clarify requirements by running workshops with stakeholders.Lead the technical architecture, design, and delivery for new Modern Data Platforms.Provide thought leadership to clients regarding data profiling and integration recommendations.Data modelling (relational and dimensional, Snowflake schema).Manage development life cycle using various source code management tools.Perform performance tuning and optimisation on data warehouse solutions.Provide documentation, end-user training, and knowledge-transfer services.Mentor developers, acting as an SME in data platform architectures and data modelling.What You'll Bring: SkillsStrong consultation and client management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication.Advanced skills in building modern data platform solutions in cloud platforms (Azure/Fabric, AWS, GCP).Advanced ETL/ELT process design and implementation.Advanced skills in Synapse Analytics and Azure SQL.Experience with data ingestion tools (Azure/Fabric Data Factory, Fivetran, etc.).Advanced data modelling skills (Star schema, Snowflake schema, data vault).Performance tuning, query plan analysis, indexing, and table partitioning.Experience in designing data solutions using Databricks.Understanding of Agile delivery methodology.What You'll Bring: Experience and QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.8+ years' experience in EDW design and implementation.8+ years' experience in ETL architecting and design.8+ years' experience in data modelling (Star schema & Snowflake schema).8+ years' experience in Microsoft SQL server technologies (SSIS, SSRS, etc.).5+ years' experience in semantic layer development.3+ years' experience in Power BI.Why Join Us Here at Datacom?Datacom is one of Australia and New Zealand's largest suppliers of IT professional services.
