Cyber Security ManagerDate: 11 October 2024Our client is on a mission to ensure critical NZ infrastructure is secure today and for years to come. As leaders in their space, they understand that safeguarding infrastructure, data, and operations is vital to their success.We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security leader with strong people leadership skills to join and drive cybersecurity initiatives while mentoring and leading a team of cybersecurity professionals. This is a unique opportunity, and we are looking for someone prepared to approach it like a blank canvas.Role Overview:This role offers complete ownership of the security domain for this enterprise client. The environment covers GRC, SecOps, and security architecture. You will play a key role in not only championing cybersecurity internally but also ensuring your team establishes policies and procedures to secure some of New Zealand's most critical infrastructure.You will lead and develop a team of cybersecurity analysts, consultants, and architects, guiding them in day-to-day operations, enhancing their technical skills, and ensuring the continuous growth and improvement of the security posture. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.Key Responsibilities:Cybersecurity Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing direction, support, and training to enhance team performance and professional development.Security Strategy: Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls across the organization.Threat Detection & Response: Monitor network traffic and security events, identifying and responding to potential threats, and managing security incidents effectively.Collaboration: Work closely with leadership and your broader technology and business peers to ensure security is integrated into all business processes, infrastructure, and cloud environments.Incident Management: Oversee the investigation of security breaches, coordinate incident response efforts, and ensure proper documentation and reporting.Team Development: Identify opportunities for training and professional growth within your team, ensuring ongoing improvement and adaptation to new security challenges.Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of emerging threats and security trends, recommending improvements to security posture and practices.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Proven career experience in cybersecurity.People leadership experience.Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of cybersecurity professionals.Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) security.Strong knowledge of network protocols, encryption, authentication, and security architecture.Experience with regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST) and compliance standards.Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, or CompTIA Security are highly preferred.Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.Why Join Us:Competitive Compensation: Generous salary and performance-based bonuses.Comprehensive Benefits: Additional annual leave and health and wellness perks.Flexible Work Options: Hybrid and remote work options available.Professional Development: Opportunities for certifications, training, and career advancement.Supportive Leadership: Join a team where leadership is committed to your growth and development, both professionally and personally.Culture of Inclusion: A diverse, inclusive environment that values collaboration, innovation, and work-life balance.For more information, reach out to Laura Douglas or Miguel Montantez at Consult.Studies have shown that women and people from under-represented backgrounds are less likely to apply for roles where they don't match the job description criteria exactly.
