Our Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a 6 month fixed term contract to join our Consumer Data team where you will be providing extra assistance to support the team while they are pursuing opportunities within Mercury.
The Consumer Data Specialist is responsible for collecting, processing, validating and tracking trends of consumption data from various sources and ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of billing consumption data for our energy and telco customers. The specialist also performs quality checks, troubleshoots issues, and provides customer service as required for both internal teams and external consumers.
You'll be joining a team of 16 Specialists who work in our Tauranga and Auckland offices in a flexible work environment. This team is made up of a diverse group of people of all ages and ethnicity, giving rise to a wide range of thought and different perspectives who are passionate about getting the work done. The team aspires to produce solutions to our business challenges through innovative use of data and there is increasing opportunity to be creative in our thinking around how this data is used and managed internally.
We offer flexibility in start times and the opportunity to work from home (with the exception of the first two weeks during which time you will be in training).
Key responsibilities include:
Collect meter consumption data from various sources, such as manual readings, automated meter reading (AMR) systems, smart meters, and third-party vendors.
Process and validate meter data using various software applications and tools, such as Excel, Access, SQL, Oracle and GTV.
Prepare and submit meter consumption data to the billing team, reconciliation teams or external parties according to established deadlines and procedures.
Troubleshoot and problem solve issues related to meter consumption data collection and processing, such as data anomalies, system failures, meter communication errors, and customer complaints.
Identify areas of friction or conflict and initiate process improvements from upstream data digestion to downstream customer bills and network reconciliations with the end consumer customer in mind.
Collaborate with internal teams to increase the knowledge and understanding of data processing and broaden the use of consumption data for future customer propositions and needs.
Provide excellent customer service and support to internal and external stakeholders, such as timely answering queries, providing full insightful relevant information, resolving issues or helpfully redirecting queries appropriately, and escalating problems as needed.
We are looking for:
Demonstrated ability in working with high transactional volumes of data and exception management.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and accuracy.
Customer Service skills and experience is required.
Must have intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills, and exposure to GTV is desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; knowledge of SQL, BI and Oracle preferred.
