We are seeking a proactive and passionate Community Development Manager to join our team and lead initiatives that enhance the social, cultural, and economic wellbeing of our residents.


Te aheinga: The opportunity As our next Community Development Manager, you will spearhead community engagement efforts, coordinate development projects, and collaborate with stakeholders to promote sustainable growth and cohesion. Your leadership will be essential in empowering our community and driving positive change.  Specifically, this includes:


Developing and implementing strategic community development plans in line with Council objectives and in collaboration with providers, residents and key stakeholders. Identifying and prioritising investments and programs where SWDC can make the greatest impact on social issues in the district over periods of time, addressing local deprivation through targeting interventions. Procuring and managing partnerships with community service providers. Working with the SWDC strategy team to define, scope and document a fresh approach for achieving significantly improved long-term outcomes, referred to as Big Tent Working with school, faith groups, service providers and others to identify programs and interventions that seek to raise youth aspiration including educational attainment and employability. Oversee the WORKit Mayors Taskforce for Jobs program, and provide effective leadership through coaching/mentoring, monitoring and supervising direct reports. He korero mou: About you We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and forward-looking individual that has:


Formal tertiary qualifications in community development or related field and/or significant experience in undertaking a comparable community development, program management or related role A deep understanding and appreciation of our district's distinct and diverse communities, including their needs and aspirations. Exceptional relationship building skills, fostering strong partnerships that enhance collaboration Ability to research, develop and implement plans and programs that are well-consulted, targeting and cost effective that support the aspirations of community groups. Financially-savvy, with the ability to investigate and prepare funding applications to finance existing and new projects and initiatives, ensuring funding received and spent is used to achieve targeting outcomes that ensure the wellbeing of the SWDC community. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to network, consult, engage, and work collaboratively with communities and stakeholders, both internal and external, regionally and nationally.
