This newly created role will see the Communications and Marketing Lead develop and implement effective marketing and communication strategies to elevate OM NZ's public presence and support its fundraising, advocacy, and outreach efforts. Working closely with the National Director and Administration on the Fundraising and Mobilisation team, the Communications & Marketing Specialist will manage both internal and external communication channels, ensuring brand consistency and relevance. A key responsibility will include promoting Off The Grid (OTG), a leadership course for young adults, offering 10-day or 40-day experiences to help them find their purpose and navigate their next steps.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
Communications
OMNZ Brand Management Maintain and develop the OMNZ brand to resonate with local communities, partners, and supporters while preserving the organisation's global mission values.
Ensure OMNZ brand remains trusted, visible, and impactful.
Strengthen external brand awareness and increase donor and community engagement.
External Communications Work with the Fundraising team and external contractors to develop and deliver high-quality, focused communications.
Effective use of digital and print communication channels, including social media, email campaigns, newsletters, and donor appeals.
Create impactful content with strong calls to action to support OMNZ's mission, including promoting Off The Grid (OTG) to young adults.
Internal Communications Ensure that OMNZ staff, volunteers, and field workers are informed about key developments and organisational activities.
Use creative, timely, and innovative methods to engage with all team members.
Strengthen internal awareness and collaboration between teams and projects.
Marketing
Digital Marketing Develop and implement a digital marketing plan to boost OMNZ's online presence and engagement.
Manage and enhance OMNZ's social media presence, creating engaging and mission-aligned content.
Design and execute digital campaigns to support fundraising, awareness initiatives, and Off The Grid (OTG) promotion.
Marketing Campaigns Collaborate with the Graphic Designer to create marketing materials that support OMNZ's fundraising and outreach activities.
Produce captivating content that reflects the OMNZ mission and vision.
Align communications with global trends and local community needs, including campaigns targeting young adults for OTG.
Website Management
Website Development and Management Update and maintain the OMNZ website to reflect current campaigns, stories, and initiatives.
Ensure website content is relevant, up-to-date, and supports key OMNZ campaigns and the promotion of Off The Grid (OTG).
Monitor performance using tools like Google Analytics to optimize content and outreach strategies.
Strategic Projects and Events
Support Fundraising Events and Strategic Projects Work closely with the General Manager of Fundraising and Relationships on key events and initiatives.
Lead and manage communications for fundraising events, ensuring brand integrity and increased donations.
Ensure Off The Grid (OTG) is featured in key communications and events targeting young adults.
Process Improvement
Optimise Communications and Marketing Processes Continuously seek and propose improvements to communication methods and marketing strategies.
Ensure innovative, efficient, and best-practice communication methods are in place to maximise impact.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, or Digital Marketing.
Proven experience in communications and digital marketing.
Strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style.
Familiarity with digital tools, including social media platforms, Google Analytics, and content management systems.
Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of detail.
Creative thinker with a passion for OMNZ's mission.
Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Problem-solver, enthusiastic, and highly adaptable.
Experience in event management and donor communications.

Job Requirements
Reports to the National Director
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm (25 hours per week)
National & international travel may be required
Self-starter, who can work independently and within a team environment.
Occasional evening and weekend work
Expected to work from the Auckland office with a maximum of two days' work from home option pre-arranged with Management
Year-to-year fixed-term agreement, renewable 2 months prior to the annual anniversary date
