Based in Wellington.Nga kawenga | About the roleThe Department of Corrections has three interconnected organisational outcomes; to improve public safety, reduce reoffending and reduce the overrepresentation of Maori. Our ability to deliver on these outcomes is underpinned by the quality of our facilities and infrastructure – a critical enabler for success. The Department has done significant work in understanding its current asset base and planning for a safer and more fit-for-purpose network, with Christchurch Men's Prison (CMP) identified as the next strategically important site that requires investment and redevelopment. Consequently, an exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced Commercial Lead to support the CMP Redevelopment Programme. This is an opportunity, at the beginning of a large complex programme, to help shape one of the main vertical asset construction programmes in the South Island.As the Commercial Lead for the CMP Redevelopment Programme, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the commercial success of this multi-year, phased infrastructure project. Your focus will be on shaping the commercial framework for the DBFM Public-Private Partnership (PPP). You will ensure the programme meets scope and cost targets. You will lead negotiations, advise the Programme Director, and oversee the delivery of commercial workstreams. In your role, you will develop procurement strategies, manage risks, and secure value for money at each stage of the programme. You'll collaborate with key stakeholders, maintain the integrity of commercial practices, and actively engage in the Interactive Tender Process, thereby keeping the programme on track to deliver high-quality outcomes.To be successful in this role you will bring:Proven experience in commercial roles at a senior level within a PPP environment.Strong commercial acumen with a track record of leading in complex, strategic environments involving multiple stakeholders and objectives.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and negotiate with various stakeholders.Leadership across investment areas, including economics, procurement, finance, and business case development.In-depth knowledge of effective project and programme delivery strategies.The mid point of the salary range is $170,033 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $144,529 - $204,040 per annum.
