We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Engineering Team Leader to join and play an important role in our friendly and highly effective team.
A Clinical Engineering, Team Leader is responsible for managing and leading a team of clinical engineering staff within a healthcare organisation. Clinical engineering is a field that focuses on the management, maintenance, and utilization of medical equipment and technology used in patient care. The role of a Clinical Engineering Team Leader involves a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and knowledge of healthcare practices.
The primary purpose of the role is to:
Support, verify and maintain all health technology (i.e. medical equipment/systems) throughout its life cycle to a level of performance and safety determined by NZ regulations and international standards.
Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation to defined and applied engineering procedures, processes, systems or methodologies
Provide sound clinical engineering and/or health technology management guidance and advice to clinical and non-clinical staff.
Lead and manage a small team of clinical engineering practitioners and ensure KPIs are met.
Manage and direct the clinical engineering and/or health technology management functions of bespoke clinical areas and/or health technology programmes.
This role will be hands on and there will be an expectation to perform functions, activities and tasks similar to those performed by the subordinated (be on the tools).
This is a permanent full-time role, working 40 hours per week, 80 hours a fortnight.

Clinical Engineering is a national function within Health Technology Operations reporting through to Health Technology Management (HTM).
Health Technology Management (HTM) is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on the management of medical technology and healthcare systems. It involves the planning, procurement, maintenance, and optimization of medical devices and equipment to ensure their safe and effective use in healthcare settings.
Mou – About you
We are looking for the following:
7+ years' experience in Clinical Engineering of which 2+ year where mentoring/training individuals and/or supervising individual or a team (or can demonstrate competency of working independently at a Team Leader Level) Experience in the repair and maintenance of medical devices.
Technically savvy with strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High level customer service/people skills
Self-motivated, and a self-starter as well as a strong team player
A current registration and practising certificate as an Electrical Appliance Service Person and a clean Driver's License is desired for this role.
