DE Consulting offers contract detailing services to a number of Structural Steel Fabricators locally, nationally, and abroad.
Detailing practices are undertaken utilizing the latest 3D Structural Detailing packages i.e.
Prosteel and Tekla, backed up with up-to-date workstations and supporting hardware.
Our Detailing Department has the resources and capabilities to work on a multitude of projects simultaneously and are traditionally contracted to prepare shop drawings for the structural steel fabricator.
We are also capable of preparing drawings for the Construction Management Company or directly under the supervision of a structural design engineer.
Working directly under a Structural Engineer allows for the possibility to provide a structural drawing set direct from the 3D model, which can be used to generate accurate shop drawings from the actual structural model.
This streamlines the transition from structural design to shop drawing stage, allowing discrepancies or inadequacies in design information to be resolved prior to the completion of the model and issuance of the structural drawing set.
This dramatically speeds up the time required to generate shop drawings and could even mean that tenders and pricing could be made directly from the prepared shop drawing package.
Design Engineering operates out of three New Zealand branches: Timaru (Head Office), Christchurch, and Dunedin.
Our qualified staff have a positive attitude towards resolving technical issues and pride themselves on producing prompt, accurate shop drawings in a professional and courteous manner while meeting project schedules.
DE has a vast amount of collective experience in design, drafting, and detailing, and has been undertaking specialized engineering consultancy services since 1991.
Our team has worked on an array of high-profile medium and large structural steel projects, including: Stadium Wellington, Indoor Stadium Christchurch, Remarkables Base Amenities Building Queenstown, ASB Don Street, Invercargill, 5 Mile Development Queenstown, and St Albans School Christchurch, and we pride ourselves on the results achieved for these and many other projects.
Detailing can be undertaken at fixed tonnage rates, hourly rates, or lump sum total depending on contract requirements and level of information available at the pricing stage.
DE provides other ancillary consultancy services such as civil/structural and mechanical engineering design, NDT, weld inspection, statutory equipment inspection services, as well as a full calibration service, to assist with other project works.
"Let Design Engineering take the hassle out of shop drawing preparation, so that you as the fabricator can concentrate on your core business of fabricating and erecting structural steelwork" Why Use Design Engineering Design Engineering detailing staff pride themselves on the quality of shop drawings they prepare.
We are committed to ensuring deadlines are met, errors are eliminated, and practical constructability is maintained within all elements of a project.
This guarantees a profitable and satisfactory result is achieved for the Structural Steel Fabricator and the end user alike.
Detailers are ready and willing to liaise with other parties as required to resolve issues and provide ideas and solutions in-house.
This ensures that coordination of information and project momentum is maintained throughout.
The Design Engineering Benefits: Our specialized detailing team members are highly competent, motivated, and all hold relevant tertiary and practical qualifications.
Proficient with practical knowledge to identify potential construction issues and able to identify areas that would be non-economic to manufacture.
With our experience, we can recommend suitable substitutions and liaise with the Engineer accordingly.
Prompt, efficient, and accurate preparation of shop drawings & supporting information aligned with the construction schedule.
Coordination of information & details between 3rd parties as necessary (i.e., purlin supplier, precast concrete panel manufacturers, proprietary floor system provider, etc.).
Team size, workstations, software, and license quantities to enable multiple detailing projects to be undertaken concurrently & efficiently.
Methodical approach to modeling, to minimize the number of manufacturing drawings necessary, and optimize common part philosophies where practical.
In-house support engineering services available to cover other engineering disciplines within a project (i.e., CPEng Design Engineer for engineering structural design solutions; NDT, weld & statutory consultancy engineers for providing inspection and compliance services).
