Position Title: Chief Financial Officer
Position: Part Time (16 hours per/week)
Fixed Term: Aug 2024 - Aug 2025 (11.5 months)
Pay Range: $33,120 - $44,160 (PT, 16 hrs per/week)

POSITION PURPOSE
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads the Funding function to ensure that Kia Mau Festival has a clear financial and funding strategy, our organisational performance is understood and our financial resources are efficiently utilised to achieve our strategic intentions.
This role is accountable for the following functions:
Management Accounting
Business Information
Planning, Budgeting and Performance Reporting
Procurement
Kia Mau Festival is undertaking a significant period of nurturing the sustainability of our multi-year programme. As the financial leader of the organisation, the CFO provides the Leadership Team with financial advice to enable strong governance, and to ensure implications and options for the utilisation of Kia Mau Festival resources are well understood.
The CFO will lead the development of a framework that can guide the evolving funding needs of Kia Mau Festival.
The CFO is part of the senior leadership team that reports to the Kia Mau Trust Board and works with the Kia Mau Trust accountant.
As a key financial position, this role is expected to contribute to and lead system initiatives that improve financial management across the organisation. This role would work across the system, in conjunction with the Artistic Director and the Chief Executive Officer and Kia Mau Trust Board, to drive a way of working that manages cost and risk to optimise value.

Implement and focus on providing practices, policies, systems and tools to ensure data and financial information are fit for purpose.
Work with colleagues to drive the transformation of Financial Systems.

Support team in nurturing the next generation of Kia Mau leadership.
People builder - develop people, identify talent, implement succession planning and knowledge sharing.

Management/Delivery
Provide the Board, the Chief Executive and the Leadership team with confidence in the integrity of data and financial information.
Maintain an awareness of evolution occurring in Kia Mau Festival and ensure the future financial impact of these changes are anticipated and planned to support a longer term view of sustainability.
Oversee and be responsible for all financial and commercial reporting to provide valuable data and insights, including:
Financial and commercial performance and analysis
Financial reports
Presentation to the Board, and stakeholders at the annual AGM
Ensuring systems are optimised for efficiency and accuracy.
Treasury
Manage and optimise the Treasury function, including:
Relationships with banks
Debt financing
Cashflows
Ensure the group meets all its legal and risk requirements, including, but not limited to:
Taxation
Risk Registers
Internal controls
Charitable Trust reporting obligations
Communication
Ability to communicate clearly.
Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication.
Communicate constructively with business units and stakeholders.
Actively seek feedback from the business units and communicate this to the team to ensure successful delivery of the project.
Identify any organisational risks and take action to minimise their impact.
Effectively manage risks within the group and establish and contribute to the maintenance of a risk management framework.
Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain effective networks/relationships both within and beyond Kia Mau Festival Trust.
Manage relationships relating to financial matters.
Identify and develop trusted adviser relationships with project and programme stakeholders, sponsors and stakeholders.

Actively and positively participate as a member of the team.
From time to time, you may be required to perform other reasonable duties as requested by the CEO.
Comply with and support all health and safety policies, guidelines and initiatives.
Ensure all incidents, injuries and near misses are reported into our H&S reporting tool.
Comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements, and report any breaches as soon as they become known.
Adhere to all Kia Mau Festival procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards of integrity and conduct.
Demonstrate a commitment to and respect for the Treaty of Waitangi and incorporate these into your work.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, business administration or finance.
Member of the New Zealand Society of Chartered Accountants.
Experience
Experience in finance with a focus on cashflow management ideally some experience with incorporated societies and/or not-for-profit organisations.
Knowledge of government and/or non-government funding and reporting processes and financial systems.
Experience leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy.
Proven leadership skills - able to lead, motivate and develop staff, where relevant.
Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning.
Working knowledge of how to raise capital outside traditional lines of credit.
