Through collaborative efforts with local communities, industry stakeholders, suppliers, and government partners, NZTA has an ambitious work programme ahead to meet the evolving needs of the country.NZTA is poised at a critical juncture as it sets about delivering on the directives outlined in the Government's Policy Statement on Land Transport (GPS) for 2024-2034. This GPS sets the balance between investing in new projects and ensuring the maintenance of our existing infrastructure, with economic growth and productivity as the overarching strategic priority.NZTA is now inviting applications for the Chief Executive role, reporting to the Board. The Chief Executive position is a critical role, providing strategic leadership and vision to align the agency's activities with the Government's direction. The Chief Executive is responsible for leading NZTA in the execution of its Statement of Intent, the delivery of its work programme, including the National Land Transport Programme, providing enterprise leadership over the full breadth of NZTA's mandate, including its large regulatory function, and delivering on its broader strategic objectives. This is an exciting and hugely important opportunity for an experienced and dynamic leader to make real and meaningful change.Candidates should be able to demonstrate proven chief executive/senior executive experience in large-scale organisations with P&L responsibility, and outstanding people leadership skills. Exceptional relationship management skills are a must – this Chief Executive role requires the ability to quickly build trust and confidence with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Board, Ministers, public sector agencies, supply chain partners, local government, iwi, and media. The Chief Executive should also have an understanding of NZTA's obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
