The district also boasts a well-established thoroughbred industry and a significant tourism venture.There are exciting times ahead for this role including:Continuing to embed and sustain the Takatu Anamata | Future Ready organisation review that resulted in a number of changes to the organisation structure and optimising the benefits of this review with a long-term view.Leading the organisation through technological change with a focus on doing things smarter, easier, better, and safer.About the role:The role of the Chief Executive is to provide effective strategic leadership and management to ensure the vision, purpose, outcomes, and strategic goals of Matamata-Piako District Council are achieved.About the person:To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following attributes and experience:Possesses an understanding of what comes with a rural council – especially proven ability to relate to, and connect with the community and stakeholders.A high-level understanding of local government in New Zealand.Embedding a new organisation restructure, while ensuring continuity in moving into a new triennium in 2025.Strategic relationship building, networking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Experience in effectively working and developing relationships with mana whenua.Leadership expertise including the ability to work collaboratively and navigate staff through organisational change.Providing vision and demonstrating energy, with the ability to have an eye on where MPDC is headed while being able to deal with day-to-day issues.Leading MPDC through technological change.Capability to support and contribute to a desirable outcome in MPDC's commitment to the Waikato Waters Done Well (WWDW) programme.There are many great things about working at Matamata-Piako District Council.
