This is a Tauranga based roleWaipuna Hospice has been providing specialist palliative care to patients and their families/whanau in the Bay of Plenty Region for over 34 years.The majority of their patients are cared for in their own homes by competent and dedicated community palliative care teams. These teams currently provide services to approximately 250 - 300 people at any given time. These services are supplemented by the specialist six bed In-Patient Unit based in Waipuna.As a proven Chief Executive, or General Manager of a complex entity, you will have strong commercial nous, ideally with a background in the health sector and/or experience in the not-for-profit or membership-based sectors. In addition, you will understand what motivates professionals in what is a genuinely unique environment, particularly the specialist roles that are critical to achieving the requisite care outcomes.You will illustrate that you are someone who not only comprehends the enormous value the organisation brings to individuals and their families affected by terminal illness, but just as importantly, can demonstrate empathy and compassion, with the passion and determination to take the lead in making a difference to the journey that these people and their families/whanau will take.You will bring a proven ability to navigate the funding challenges that not-for-profits face, and the ability to proactively innovate and seek out opportunities to promote the Hospice's sustainability.The professional we seek will:Be a connected, transparent and inspirational leader, determined to grow and maximise the potential of talented staff who work together closely to deliver the outcomes required.Have high integrity and trust, exhibiting discretion and confidentiality at all times.Ideally, understand the health sector, as well as the "machinery of government," and how to maximise relationships, gaining support and outcomes through such.Have a strong, proven understanding of, and commitment, to working in partnership with iwi, realising the principles of Te Tiriti and ensuring equitable access to services.Bring sound and successful experience working with a variety of people and cultures.Outstanding relationship development and management skills are absolutely non-negotiable, in order to effectively engage with a diverse group of stakeholders and the wider health sector.Have a proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives, with a future focus.Can demonstrate innovation and change management experience.Have a proven capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse and highly committed Board.Bring financial and operational competence as expected in a person assuming this level of responsibility, including a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
