Job Overview The Pacific International Hotel Management School in New Plymouth provides tertiary qualifications in Hospitality Management. PIHMS delivers highly relevant industry-focused training in a simulated 4-star hotel environment. Students are exposed to experiential learning fulfilling the roles of guests and managers alongside their full-time studies.
PIHMS is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and fully qualified chef to be part of their kitchen production team. The Chef Lecturer will demonstrate and apply their experience and knowledge to a group of enthusiastic learners eager to join the global hospitality industry upon graduation as qualified professionals.
Key Responsibilities Deliver kitchen practical and theory classes.
Apply relevant student assessment.
Undertake duties as required with the Kitchen Department as a Student Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate will display:
Industry qualifications and experience at an appropriate level.
Proven experience as a Chef in a commercial environment.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
Evidence of significant hospitality experience within kitchen/food and beverage departments, preferably in a 4-5 star hotel environment to at least supervisory level.
Experience in "On the Job" training.
Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
Flair, creativity, and a passion for the food industry.
Appropriate operational tutoring experience would be an advantage.
Ability to work with adult learners.
Working Environment Attention to detail is a must, as is demonstrated culinary expertise. We want someone with creativity and passion that produces innovative dishes enhancing the overall dining experience for our students and guests.
The working environment is professional, friendly, and offers positive lifestyle opportunities. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with some weekends and nights worked on a rotational basis.
