Charge Nurse Manager - Emergency Psychiatric Service Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern – Dunedin, South Island

Permanent 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)

About the Role
The Charge Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of the Emergency Psychiatric Service, Community Programmes, Consultation Psychiatry Liaison Service, Combined Response Team, Psychiatric Records and Director of Area Mental Health Service (DAMHS). This includes clinical leadership and co-ordination, operational functions, quality and financial performance, human resource management, quality and risk management, and quality, clinical pathway development and other service delivery improvements within the ward/unit/service.
Working in partnership with clinical and other staff, the Charge Nurse Manager will contribute to strategic and operational management in a way that is consistent with the organisation's vision and values.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Emergency Psychiatric Service provides around the clock urgent assessments and interventions for consumers of all ages. Community Programmes is a mental health service based at Dunedin Hospital providing recovery-focused group programmes for adults with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health issues, living within the community.

About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
A current RN APC
Strong clinical leadership and management skills and experience
Proven experience working within the Mental Health sector
Post graduate diploma in a relevant field
Advanced communication techniques including conflict resolution, diffusion and mediation skills
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to be flexible and innovative
A clear understanding of the principles underpinning mental health and addiction assessment and treatment
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
