Located in the vibrant heart of Mount Maunganui, our café and cake shop offers a variety of freshly baked treats and specialty beverages. Over the past ten years we have established ourselves as a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. We're looking for a dynamic and friendly Café Manager who thrives on variety and is ready to lead our team in creating memorable experiences for our customers.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Oversee daily operations of the cafe, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and high-quality customer service.
Lead and encourage a team of baristas and bakers, providing support to maintain excellent service standards.
Manage all incoming orders - processing, co-ordinating and scheduling all cake orders and enquiries (including wedding cakes).
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the shop in-line with our aesthetic, and health and safety regulations.
Handle customer inquiries and feedback with professionalism and a smile, ensuring a positive experience for everyone.
Coordinate stock, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
Collaborate with the team to maintain and nurture a positive/safe work environment.
Plan and assist the owner in implementing marketing strategies to grow the business.
What you'll need:
Previous experience in hospitality management is preferred, with a focus on customer service.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a drive to create authentic connections both within the team and with our customers.
Knowledge of cake baking and decorating is a plus, but not required. Barista experience is definitely a bonus!
Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
High level of attention to detail (there are many things to juggle) and the ability to multi-task.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and point-of-sale systems.
A friendly demeanor and a desire to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

This is a permanent position, approx 30hrs a week and includes at least one weekend shift.
