Business Manager - The Cathedral Grammar School
This is a pivotal Finance and Operations role within our school with key responsibilities and a direct reporting line to the Principal to ensure the ongoing success, growth and development of our school. Strong leadership, effective management, and diligent oversight in administration, financial operations, and project management are essential in our ever-evolving, dynamic organisation. We are an independent Anglican primary school and pre-school providing high quality education in the heart of Christchurch city. Established in 1881 as the Grammar and Choir School of Christ Church Cathedral, our school is perched on the banks of the Avon River with a view spanning across Hagley Park. About the Opportunity
The Business Manager reports directly to the Principal and is an integral part of the Executive Leadership Team. The primary objective of the Business Manager is to support the Principal by managing aspects of the 'non teaching' business of the School in order to support the financial and long term development goals. The overarching responsibilities of the Business Manager include, finance, facilities management, health and safety, project management and human resources.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ongoing success and management of the school. In doing this you will:
Work authentically with the Principal and Executive Leadership Team to execute financial and operational strategies that will positively impact on the School
Manage, and provide oversight for all financial activities and associated reporting
Act as Project Manager for construction and development projects as required
Manage the schools' facilities and compliance requirements
About You
To succeed in this senior role, you will hold a relevant qualification and have proven experience across the full scope of financial business operations in a related field. Experience in a school or academic setting is highly desirable. Your drive to make a positive impact in this role will be demonstrated through your past successes, a focus on continuous improvement, and a clear strategic vision.
Strong leadership, management and oversight in administration, financial and project management in an ever evolving and dynamic organisation will provide the successful candidate with challenge, variety and a sense of fulfilment in making a difference for our students and wider community.
A natural people person, you can effectively connect and engage with internal and external stakeholders. You will enjoy the complexities of working within a school environment, engaging with students, staff and the wider school community. You will align strongly with the school's Anglican character, values and philosophies.
