As New Zealand's electricity System Operator, we manage the real-time power system and operate the wholesale electricity market "keeping the lights on" 24/7. The team plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. This requires an ability to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.
Responsibilities: Capability Planning & Delivery: responsible for roadmap development, capability models, and ideation & prototypeSpecialist Services: Team of System experts in market systems, SCADA/EMS, and other operational tools. Responsible for project design & delivery support, and supports Subject Matter Experts trainingProjects: working with our IST division and the Electricity Authority to deliver the programme of projects to maintain and enhance the critical software systems used to operate the power system and wholesale electricity marketAbout the opportunity: This position plays a key role in the delivery of the Operations Work Programme from early concept through to implementation.
Specifically, this role supports investment decisions for changes to business capability through analysis of the stakeholder requirements, development of business process, and measurement of any resulting benefits. All of which are used in providing recommendations to senior management and guiding decision making. Key areas of focus include:
Ensuring effective scoping and delivery of projects that achieve their stated business and statutory objectives.Applying business analysis best practice to own portfolio of projectsEnsuring we are driving better business efficiency through the delivery of business analysis across TranspowerAs a member of the wider OPTI team, you will be contributing to the development of a high performing team who are forward-looking, collaborative, and where supporting one another and enjoying what we do is core to our culture.
What will you bring? Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Business Analyst.Previous experience developing business processes for business change and working with senior management to recommend changes in business capability.Previous experience mapping strategy to business outcomes and change initiatives to guide business decision making on investment decisions.Proven ability in producing clear, user-friendly documentation, including examples of requirements analysis and process documentation completed within an overall programme of work.Demonstrated competence in relevant Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint) and other business analysis tools (e.g. Sparx EA, Signavio)Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience.A qualification in Business Analysis such as IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) is advantageous.Join us at Transpower: Aotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
