Te Wero - The Challenge
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Building Support Officer. This role is integral to our Building Consent Authority, aiding in compliance with the Building Act 2004 and the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.
Key Responsibilities:
Comprehend and adhere to the specific legislative requirements under the Building Act 2004 and the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.
Develop and apply the administrative skills as per the matrix relevant to the role.
Independently manage task delivery, ensuring all role-related deliverables are met within agreed timeframes to maintain BCA compliance with the 2006 Regulations.
Maintain accurate time records and financial information to ensure financial precision.
Uphold Council values, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment that prioritizes customer experience.
Additional Duties:
Ensure efficient provision of quality customer and administrative support in processing building consents, compliance documents, and related certificates and memorandums.
Provide customers with comprehensive, objective, and accurate information regarding building, compliance, and related certificates and memorandums.
Offer administrative support to building inspectors and Building Control Officers in processing building consents, including the creation of relevant certificates and other applications.
Resolve telephone inquiries and assist customers at the counter with information about the building consent and compliance process promptly.
Respond to letters or emails in a timely manner.
Assist with Record Management systems.
Conduct research into appropriate building matters and perform general duties as applicable, including inspections.
Provide accurate financial information and maintain responsibility for financial accuracy.
High degree of self-motivation.
Enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in customer service.

The ability to work autonomously and self-direct, while adhering to prescribed processes and procedures.
Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work to deadlines.

Excellent communication skills - listening, written, and oral.
Current driver's license.
Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).

The salary for this position is Grade 10 within Council's salary structure (Band: $50,546 - $59,466 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
