About the Business:
The Addington Men's Hostel and Community housing team provides a unique 24/7 Transitional housing service in Christchurch. The service has been serving the city for 125+ years with a particular focus for up to 88 individual men with Corrections/mental health/addictions prior experience, within a hostel 24-hour staffed context. More recently, we have also added whanau-focused housing for up to 49 families across a number of other standalone housing sites across the city.
About the Role:
The Assistant Operations Manager is the 3IC role in this service, and will be a fully registered professional providing support to the day-to-day Operations leadership and clinical decision making across the service. It is a busy role, requiring someone who has significant prior training, clinical and leadership experience within a Mental health/Addictions/Corrections context, who wants the opportunity to step into the joint leadership of a 24/7 team alongside our very experienced Operations Manager and Director.
You will bring your clinical expertise and training into a community setting, ensuring that the day-to-day health and support needs are being addressed and assisting the wider staff to provide the safest service to the individuals and whanau who are in need of what we can offer. We employ Nurses, Social Workers, Counsellors, OT, Addiction-focused staff, and Support workers as part of the wider team, and you will be leading parts of this team according to your own training.
What will your responsibilities be:
To help provide clinical and practical leadership to the wider team
To provide line management to parts of the team
To assist in intake and discharges to the hostel or Community team
Provide assistance and oversight of the service, in the absence of the Operations Manager
Undertake internal training to the team as needed
To work alongside the Operations Manager to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the clients, staff, and sites
After hours On call a week per month (approx)
Our ideal candidate will:
Must have a NZ approved, Degree level equivalent qualification for either Registered Nursing/Social work/Addictions/OT/Counselling or equivalent
Must have full NZ registration with either Nursing Council, SWRB, Dapaanz, NZAC, (or NZ equivalent)
At least 5 years post grad direct experience in either Health, Housing, Addictions, Corrections, Counselling or similar
At least 2 years leadership experience in supporting and leading a similar team
Have the ability to support and promote the values and mission of this site and service
Working within a culturally diverse client and staff group

This role is permanent full time and hours worked will be 40 per week with on call rostered approximately every 4 weeks. (On call allowance)
The starting salary for this role will fall between $95k and $122K
