For over 100 years, Cobb Genetics is a global primary breeding company that provides affordable protein to the world.
Based at our facility in Rotongaro, our team is on the lookout for an Assistant Manager to join our Hatchery team.
Reporting into the Hatchery Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day staffing supervision and hands-on operation of the GP hatchery.
Considered a hands-on position, this role is key in ensuring the hatchery meets all quality and yield targets with a focus on maintaining biosecurity and safety measures.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise the effective production of a GP hatchery including quality assurance and production targets in accordance with production targets.
Assist the Hatchery Manager in the continuous development of production improvements and supporting documentation.
Hands-on supervision of all staff including employee retention, recruitment, training and development, coaching, first line non-performance issues, responsible for the staff roster.
Champion a culture of safe practices and continuously improve safety through ongoing training and leading from the front.
Oversee equipment maintenance to ensure safe operation and optimal performance.
Respond to alarm activations in a prompt, safe manner that does not compromise biosecurity procedures (be part of the on-call roster).
Skills & Experience Required:
3+ years previous hatchery or poultry industry experience.
Proven experience in a leadership position.
Understanding of commercial and financial acumen.
Safety first mindset.
Great people skills, and experience managing staff.
High level of detail.
Great communication at all levels of the business.
