This is a great opportunity for someone keen to grow within the industry and continue their development, working closely alongside the contract milker.You will be responsible for running and managing the shed, including detecting and treating mastitis and lameness. You must be confident to work unsupervised and able to take charge when the contract milker is absent, and have excellent communication skills with staff and the contract milker.Minimum Requirements:A minimum of 3 years' experience on New Zealand dairy farmsAt least 1 year in a senior roleExperience with in-shed feeding is beneficialLevel 3, 4 (or proven near completion) Primary ITO dairy farming qualificationDue to a change of farm management structure for the 2025-26 season, McIntosh Agri is seeking a highly motivated 2IC looking to learn and grow in the dairy industry while getting amongst all the Culverden community has to offer. The property milks 1,380 cows at peak through a 60-bail rotary, operating at a system 4 producing around 500-510 kgMS/cow. The dairy platform is 400 hectares with around 30 hectares for winter feed plus more adjoining runoff area, all cows wintered on-farm.The technology/infrastructure includes Allflex collars, ACR's, Omni eye, in-shed feeding, Protrack, along with a high standard of fencing, water troughs, cow lanes, cattle yards, effluent infrastructure, and irrigation. The housing on-farm is warm and suitable for a family. Roster is 5 on 2 off for most of the season, 6 on 1 off during calving. Multiple formal and informal training opportunities are available if desired.The ideal candidate will be able to undertake the usual aspects of a regular dairy farm.
